Feral Bloom, Doreen's second full-length release, is a meditation on grief, addiction, the dissolution of rituals and relationships, and the attempt to broker peace with the fragmented remains. Throughout the album, self-reflective lyrics are sung over exacting bass lines, pounding drums, piercing synths, and wiry guitars, creating an unsettling atmosphere but with plenty of hooks to keep the listener coming back for more. In Feral Bloom, Doreen incorporates influences of early post-punk, gothic rock, and contemporary art rock with the maturity and control of music veterans while allowing moments of ignited fragility to set the songs ablaze. Feral Bloom is Doreen's best offering to date and a testament to the group's resolve to get better with each breaking day.
